Nokia 1661

"Cheap Cost - Expensive Looks" This is what the new Nokia 1661 all about. Carrying a price tag of as low as 25euros, this new device from Nokia is the cheaptest color handset from Nokia. Together with 1202/1203 and 1661, Nokia is surely looking aggressive on capturing the low end segment of the mobile phones.

As said above, it just looks attractive but carries no real stuff. The 1.8 inch and 128 x 160 pixel display is certainly good but not comparable to any color phones from nokia which certainly cost more. There's no web browser, Bluetooth, camera or multimedia player (and this is expected in a low cost phone). On the other hand, this new Nokia comes with an integrated FM radio and a flashlight, plus multiple phonebooks and a call cost tracker.
Again Nokia has proved that it can give long standing phones, with a talktime of 8 hours and a standby time of up to 26 days. It is a lightweight device which can slide into your pockets smoothly weighing just 82 grams and measuring 108 x 45 x 14mm.
On a whole this little device from Nokia is worth looking at if your need is of a basic but smart looking phone.

Nokia 1202 and 1203

Remember the Nokia 1100? (made in india, made for india) Nokia is ready with a better version as its successor. Nokia is trying to fight out the low cost mobile battle on a very aggressive note and these 2 brothers are perfect examples. The Nokia 1202 is Nokia's cheapest ever handset priced just about 25 euros. You definately cannot expect high end technology in this but it has plenty of features that make it attractive and surely is gonna be a tough contender in the low price phone market.

The Nokia 1202 offers multiple phonebooks to take into account different users, it comes with a built-in flashlight, has a cost tracker and a dust-resistant keypad. That is not all, the 1202 (and 1203) have a very long battery life, giving up to 9 hours talktime and 26 days standby time. The screen is basic old fashioned low end types with the same 96x68 pixel display.

There are two dual-band variants depending on region - a GSM 900 / 1800 version and one with GSM 850 / 1900 support. And please do not expect bluetooth or a camera.

Now lets look at the twin brother of 1202. That is the Nokia 1203. There is no literal difference between both phones except that of the looks and appearence. The 1203 is a smooth looking handset in "Silver Gray", the 1202 looks a little more rugged and is available in "Midnight Blue" and "Violet Blue" colour combinations.

On a whole, both these phones are real good for the low money that you are going to pay. With both expected to be out in 2 around a month or two, lets wait and see the impact they create on the low end market.

Nokia 7100 SuperNova

The recently announced Nokia 7100 Supernova is a low-end to mid-end slider phone from nokia which may not compete with the recent high end like Nokia 5130 music Xpress or the Nokia 7610 Supernova but comes with a very low price of 75 euros approx.

This phone comes with a GSM triband support. It features TFT 262k colors scrren with a 240x320 pixel dsplay, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, Opera Mini browser, Flash Lite 2.1.1, MicroSD card slot and 1.3 MP camera. This phone also includes Ovi email services for creating personal email accounts on your phone and image sharing facilities. Despite its low price tag, it is fully feature packed.

It isn't really a great looking phone. Previous "Supernova" handsets have been very stylish, but the 7100 simply doesn't compare with the attractive predecessors like Nokia 7610 Supernova. At 104 grams, it is quite heavy and the stand by time is 360 hours with a maximum talktime of just 3.5 hours.. which is pretty short.

On a whole, this average looking phone carries a lot of features at a relatively low cost which will possibly attract the middle class consumers.

Sagem/Porsche P9522

Remember Fly Hummer GT?? It seems like more and more car manufacturers are launching their own mobile devices. The newest device in this trend is the Sagem/Porsche P9522 candybar phone, and, as its name says it, it is made by Sagem in collaboration with Porsche. Surely this is going to be a stunning return to the mobile arena by Sagem.

The Sagem P9522 is of a candy-bar design constructed in an aluminium chassis, and sports a 5 megapixel camera, 2.8 inch display, WiFi, fingerprint reader, GPS and a microSD expansion slot. The Sagem 9522 is a touchscreen device with a reinforced mineral glass. The fingerprint reader can be termed one of the unique features that very few phones in the current market hold.

Though Sagem has failed to add 3G features to this masterpiece and lacks latest technology, this phone can be termed as a stylishly designed cool device people will love to own.

Nokia 8800 - carbon Arte

Complete Stainless Steel body with an OLED screen which stands this phone out of the normal crowd. Carrying a huge price tag, this phone is surely a piece of art.

The latest edition of the Nokia 8800 series, the carbon Arte as the name suggests looks a total carbon beauty. The latest addition to this masterpiecs is an upgraded memory with 4GB internal and even the body is made of carbon fibre (Remember F1 Cars??) and titanium which makes it lighter as compared to the earlier version.

This 3G phone from Nokia comes with a 3 MegaPixel camera (with autofocus) and 2" 16M color OLED display with QVGA resolution. If you are thinking that the big money that you are going to spend is only on this beauty then hold on, this is not all: The sales package includes a matching Bluetooth headset and desk stand plus a "story booklet" to tell you about the Carbon Arte's design story. Unlike some other "premium" phones, the Carbon Arte is actually quite useful as a communication device. Custom ringtones and themes that change throughout the day complement the design of the 8800 Carbon Arte to make the whole experience very impressive. One nice touch is that the Carbon Arte comes with a special coating to help reduce fingerprints and smudges.

The biggest flaw in this beauty is its awful price tag of 1600USD which is twice as much of other much advanced phones in the current market. Well, if you admire beauty and want to stand out of the crowd even by shelling out some extra dollars then this is the phone for you!!

LG KS500

The all new LG KS500 is one of those handsets from LG that may not impress you with its first looks but certainly has a bundle of features that will surely gonna be attractive to an end user. This cool looking slider comes with a 3 MegaPixel camera, a QVGA display, GPS reciever, multimedia player and certainly an attractive price tag.

It's a bit of an oddity in our opinion, as the KS500 is very similar in specification to the existing KT520 slider, which also has HSDPA and a slighly better camera. This new device from LG is NOT a smartphone. The LG KS500 is the first handset by the South Korean company to feature an optical touchpad. It helps navigation through the menus or the web browser.
The LG KS500 is a tri-band GSM phone which offers dual-band UMTS/HSDPA support. Measuring 102.8 x 49.2 x 14.9 mm doesn't really make it the most compact chap on the block, but still it's nothing too big.

We are not sure about the exact price tag yet, but this one is definately gonna be a low cost competitor in the market.

BlackBerry Storm 9500

Welcome to the new kind of BlackBerry - The first touchscreen device from RIM is this Storm 9500 which has most of the features of the earlier variants of BlackBerrys along with a brand new display.

The touch sensitive display is the most arguable feature of this beast and certainly RIM has done an excellent job by coming up with such a wonderful touch screen. The operating mechanism on the touch screen is of two folds. First, select the option you want to execute by selecting it on the touch screen. This highlights the feature. Then you have to "click" on it to execute. This makes the BlackBerry Storm 9500's touchscreen very user friendly as compared to a traditional touch screens. The 3.25-inch screen itself is bright, colorful and high-resolution (480 x 360). Video playback is sharp and smooth, and the extra pixels on the large screen means eye fatigue won't be much of an issue. The lack of a QWERTY keyboard should not be an issue as the touchscreen hosts a keyboard while typing in a landscape mode. The Storm automatically switches between modes when rotated, so if you suddenly find that you need to do some more intensive typing than the SureType arrangement allows then it's a hassle-free transition.

Although the Storm is similar to the user interface of the earlier version of BlackBerry -"Bold", it supports features of touchscreen similar to iPhone like taps, slides and multi-touch which makes it more usable. The Storm 9500 also has a built-in GPS receiver and a navigation function. It comes with a 3.2 MegaPixel camera having autofocus and flash for high resolution pictures.

The Storm 9500 supports both business usage and normal consumer usage as it contains push email, document editors, and also media player for music which makes it a complete smartphone. The sad part is that this 3G device DOES NOT support WiFi.

It's quite a hefty device at 155 grams and 113 x 62 x 14mm in size. The large 1400 mAh battery can give up to 5.5 hours talktime and 15 day standby time on 3G, which is impressive. The overall design is smart but unexciting, with just four physical keys on the front underneath the large screen. Internal Memory is 1GB, expandable by up to 16GB using microSD cards.

On a whole, this phone has lot of cool features but on the other hand lacks WiFi which is a big blow. Again, this phone could be very useful for a corporate user as the keyboard and the screen are flawless also adding up a cool camera and good music player.
