Sony Ericsson W705

Now, thats a good upgrade. The Sony Ericsson W705 is the upgraded version of the G705 by adding the walkman feature. Again, this phone is a 3.5G capable slider phone with WiFi and GPS.

As said above, this phone hosts all the features of G705 plus the Walkman. So this device comes with a 4GB memory card in the box.

The "Shake Control" is a latest addition to this phone as compared to the G705. Shake control lets you jump, skip and adjust the volume by simply moving your W705. And to create playlists based on mood, try SensMe™. The enhanced walkman experience of the W705 is as good as any music player and is worth mentioning. The "DLNA Sharing" allows you to connect wirelessly to other electronic devices via Wi-Fi. See your photos on your TV. The HSUPA support lets you browse at high speeds.

On a whole, this phone is a good music phone with cool looks but not sure why Sony is repeating the phones (with G705 already with same features).. Anyways, if you like Sony phones and are very particular about clarify(music and picture), this phone is the one looking for. But not so fast, it will take some months to get your hands on it.

Sony Ericsson G705

Sony Ericsson G705: "Juggle your day the easy way" is the caption that Sony has come up for its upcoming cool looking phone which is jampacked with the new features. This new device from Sony is an HSDPA capable 3.5G slider phone with GPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera and built-in WiFi. This new mobile from Sony may not be the best in its class and not so sexy, but it certainly is a sleek and cool looking phone with GPS which makes it stand among the top mid-end models. There are some more negatives to this phone: It not a walkman phone and moreover its a dull phone with not so catchy name.

The display is a 2.4" QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) panel in 262,000 colours. Sony has done a fantastic job with the screen and the camera. The G705 has a 3.2 megapixel camera with a photo/video light (it appears to be fixed focus), there's a video calling camera too. Video clips and stills photos can be uploaded directly to a blog. The G705 can automatically geotag photographs with the current GPS coordinates.The G705 supports Google Maps too.

Sony is claiming to come up with different variants of this phone predominantly an European and an US version. The standard European one is a quad-band GSM phone with UMTS 2100, GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA data, plus WiFi, stereo Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The American version of the G705 which has UMTS 800 / 1900 / 2100 MHz and HSUPA which allows for high-speed uploads.

There's a media player plus an FM radio, and all the usual Sony Ericsson multimedia enhancements that you would expect. Usefully, the G705 comes with a 1GB memory card in the standard sales package. The google map navigation would have been a better experience if the G705 would have been a touchscreen like the earlier G series phones. The web browser is a little bit more sophisticated than usual, with one click access to Google and the ability to sense the orientation of the display and automatically swap between wide and tall formats. The G705 also has an email client, and can support Microsoft ActiveSync and instant messaging. There are a number of other personal information management applications too.
The Sony Ericsson G705 weighs just 98 grams and has up to 4 hours talktime and 14 days standby time on 3G, 10 hours talktime and 16 days standby time on GSM which is a very good battery life as compared to some of its competitors. Standard colours are "Silky Gold" and "Majestic Black". The G705u will be available in "Luminous Black" which looks the best in the lot.

On a whole, this phone is one of those devices to be watched out for. The GPS certainly will add to the positive side. Lacking Walkman is surely a big mess.

HTC Touch 3G

One of the most talked about phones that is expected to give iPhone 3G a tough time is the new HTC Touch 3G. Definately one of the most attractive Windows smartphones in the current industry, this beautiful HTC Touch 3G is a compact 3.5G smartphone that also features WiFi and GPS.

Weighing just 96 grams, and with a sleek design, the HTC Touch 3G slides into your pocket with great ease. It has a 2.8" QVGA touchscreen display, 900 / 2100 MHz UMTS with HSDPA, 802.11 b and g WiFi, GPS (and A-GPS) support, stereo Bluetooth, microSD expandable memory and a 3.2 megapixel fixed focus camera.

The operating system on the HTC Touch 3G is Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with HTC's TouchFLO interface on top. This smartphone runs on a Qualcomm MSM7225 processor running at 528 MHz, combined with 192MB of RAM which makes it a definate faster device as compared to its predecessors. Talktime on 3G is quoted as an impressive 6 hours with up to 18 days standby time. This beauty comes in Four colour combinations of Noble Gold, Sparkle Blue, Modern Brown and Sophisticated Black which makes it stand away from the crowd.

Remember the much talked phone HTC Touch Cruise? The HTC touch 3G carries all features of the feature-packed Cruise and is very light compared to the former. The HTC Touch 3G is basically a combination of learnins from Touch Cruise (features) and the successful HTC Touch original (Looks and sleekness).

Slightly priced on the higher side, the HTC touch 3G should be available very soon. On a whole, this phone definately is one of the best Windows mobile phones and worth looking at.

LG KS500

The all new LG KS500 is one of those handsets from LG that may not impress you with its first looks but certainly has a bundle of features that will surely gonna be attractive to an end user. This cool looking slider comes with a 3 MegaPixel camera, a QVGA display, GPS reciever, multimedia player and certainly an attractive price tag.

It's a bit of an oddity in our opinion, as the KS500 is very similar in specification to the existing KT520 slider, which also has HSDPA and a slighly better camera. This new device from LG is NOT a smartphone. The LG KS500 is the first handset by the South Korean company to feature an optical touchpad. It helps navigation through the menus or the web browser.
The LG KS500 is a tri-band GSM phone which offers dual-band UMTS/HSDPA support. Measuring 102.8 x 49.2 x 14.9 mm doesn't really make it the most compact chap on the block, but still it's nothing too big.

We are not sure about the exact price tag yet, but this one is definately gonna be a low cost competitor in the market.

HTC Touch HD

Arguably ne of the best smartphones in the market today, the HTC Touch HD comes with an impressive 480x800 pixel screen, a 5 MegaPixel camera, HSDPA and WiFi support, inbuilt GPS and most importantly its a windows mobile.

As the name itself suggests, the best part about the HTC Touch HD as you might think is its display. An impressive and a state of art 3.8 inch WVGA touchscreen which is certainly the best in the smartphone business today. Undoubtedly it can be picked on top of any smart phone's display, even the iPhone 3G is not a match.

The Touch HD features GPS support, so it can be used with Google Maps or another application. This is a quad-band GSM handset with EDGE and GPRS data, plus support for UMTS 900 / 2100 and HSDPA, giving a maximum download speed of up to 7.2 Mbps. The Touch HD can also support HSUPA giving a maximum upload speed of 2 Mbps. It also has 802.11b and g WiFi connectivity.

The standard Windows Mobile 6.1 interface has been enhanced with HTC's excellent TouchFLO 3D add-on. Perhaps this isn't as impressive as the iPhone, but it certainly makes the Windows Mobile experience much more enjoyable.
The standard multimedia support is enhanced by an FM radio and standard 3.5mm audio socket. The HTC Touch HD can play back various AAC, AMR, MP3 and Windows Media formats, plus widescreen video.

The HTC Touch HD has a processor which is a fairly standard Qualcomm MSM7201a running at 528 MHz, but there's a useful 288MB of RAM too which should help with applications. There's also 512MB of Flash memory which can be expanded using microSD or SDHC cards. The large 1350 mAh battery can power the Touch HD for up to 6.5 hours on 3G with a maximum of 18 days standby time, oddly enough the battery life on GSM is just 5 hours talktime and 16 days standby. The whole package measures 115 x 63 x 12mm and weighs 146 grams.

There's no doubt that the HTC Touch HD is a hugely impressive device but lacks a QWERTY keyboard which would have made a difference. For windows mobile users who love multimedia, the HTC Touch HD is the perfect thing to go for.
