The hardware giant of computer industry Hewlett-Packard is now planning to hit the Phone market on a high note with 2 phones. One of the is the HP iPAQ Voice Messenger. This time, HP have teamed up with Vodafone and this phone should be available in the UK and other Vodafone countries later this year.
The HP iPAQ Voice messenger is targetted to compete against the blackberrys as it carries the similar conevtional input mechanism: a keypad rather than a touchscreen. The main interface control is a five-way optical navigation pad. There is an other version of this phone which HP will be launching with a touchscreen: HP iPAQ data Messenger.
The HP iPAQ Voice Messenger carries conventional looks of a non-touch sensitive smartphone but it does carry loads of features in it. This HP smartphone has 3.5G HSDPA support and also HSUPA capabilities for high-speed uploads, plus WiFi, tri-band 900 / 1900 / 2100 MHz UMTS, quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE data. The HP iPAQ Voice Messenger should be able to get you some sort of high-speed data connection pretty much anywhere in the world.
The other features that this phone carries are: it has GPS and Google Maps, plus a 30 day trial for a turn-by-turn satellite navigation application. The camera is surprisingly good for a Windows device, being a 3.1 megapixel unit with autofocus and LED flash. There's microSD expandable memory, Bluetooth and a USB connection too.
Now coming to the OS part of it: This HP iPAQ voice Messenger comes with a Windows 6.1 standard edition supporting all the features like browser, office etc...
On a whole, this jampacked smart phone comes with a price tag of approx. 420euros which is worth investing. This is a perfect example for showcasing the power of a windows powered smart phones.
